I
This is something that I will never understand- Why the fuck is alcohol legal? For the longest time I thought that the drinking age should be 18, and that it was stupid to push it to 21- I liked how it was set up in other countries. And I still do, but my perspective is shifting. To be completely fair, 3 years can make a huge difference in maturity within teenagers and young adults. Sure kids are still going to drink and get fucked up, but I think that there is an appropriate level of legality that keeps kids on there toes- keeps them somewhat out of the way of other peoples peace, as well as making them think twice about the situation they’re in when they drink. Granted, everyone has their own learning curve with substances, especially alcohol. I remember the bassist fromĀ ArsonistsĀ Get all the Girls dying on his 21st birthday from alcohol poisoning though, so a law cant save everybody from there own stupid decisions.
I’ve had some real shit happen to me thanks to drinking, and if it weren’t for the cops that picked me up and the nurses in the ER, I’d be long gone now. So why is is this shit really allowed? Im sure most people know at least two or three individuals with a drinking problem, that raises hell in most every area of their life, or even someone who died from alcohol poisoning or other alcohol related incident. According to a statistic in A UK news journal, “Fifteen thousand people are dying from alcohol-related diseases every year…” “the true death toll from drinking is nearly double that shown by official statistics.” I’m finding that most people seem to have a similar view, at least here at college. But I’m done for now. My adderalls wearing off, haha.
